"I first met Lieutenant Colonel DD Goel at the Artificial Limb Centre, Pune and I was straight away impressed with his positive attitude and ability to run, swim take on challenging tasks better than most non-disabled persons. He is, in fact, the perfect example of the battle casualty who does what he loves, loves what he does, is never afraid, and never gives up. A perfect icon for the youth of India to follow if they want their dreams to come true. I wish him all the very best in his endeavors to take Indians to meet their aspirations."

"It was 23rd December 2020 when I first met Lt. Col. D. D. Goel sir through Anuradha Prabhudesai’s book “Sainik.” She had written one article on Goel sir and I was very much impressed to know about him. Somewhere in December 2021, I came to know that Goel sir has written a book titled, “When people doubted my ability to walk I decided to fly.”
Hello I ordered the book and read it without wasting time. I just couldn’t express my feelings after finishing the book. I had no words. I was just thinking and comparing others with him. We keep grumbling for such silly things, we are never happy and satisfied with what we have and here I was reading about the sufferings, struggles, accident and the problems Goel sir faced and overcomed every problem with his strong will power. Lt. Col. D. D. Goel sir is an true inspiration, a motivation to many. I couldn’t control myself and wrote to Goel sir asking permission to translate the book in Marathi. To my surprise, I got a prompt reply, he gave his publisher’s phone number and email, gave his personal number to me and assured me every help in doing this translation. The Marathi translation was published last year on 20th August and I met Goel sir for the first time. It was an unforgetable moment for me. Lt. Col. D. D. Goel sir is totally down to earth person, very simple and polite, inspiring, motivating. I am trully blessed to know him and to have him in my life. I wish him a very happy and healthy life. May God bless him and his family."

"Our illustrious student Dr. Dharam Datt Goel (Lt.Col. Retd) comes from a humble background. His story is a story of a student from nowhere to somewhere. His life, army experience and later is very inspiring to many students who come from ordinary family. It was his sincerity, hard work, emphasis on education and guidance by teacher made him not only pass out Masters in psychology in flying colours, and then become lecturer and then getting into Indian Armed forces. He served the Armed forces in spite of getting injured and becoming the casualty by losing his leg which did not become hurdle for growth and development. He in spite of become disabling but was inspiration to everyone that nothing can stop you. He not only completed his doctorate but also wrote an inspiring book, but participated in marathon run, did skiing, driving all over India and paragliding. We are very proud of him as he comes every year and inspire the next generation of how to develop you and contribute not only to national but also to social development. I wish him all the best for his next endeavor."

"I chanced upon Colonel Dharam when I had gone on a visit to my Alma Mater, National Defence Academy a few years ago. As the story of his live unravelled, I realised that here was a man who has experienced every possible pain in his life including loss of his limb to the life in the Indian Army. Yet, he came out as a person full of energy and positivity with not even an iota of bitterness whatsoever towards life. In fact, he stood out as a beacon of inner strength and resolve wherein he was pushing himself to adventures which would make even a fully fit soldier baulk. As if that was not enough, he was motivating cadets at NDA to greater heights and giving more than his share to the Army. While doing all these, he also came out to be a very caring man with immense devotion to his family as well as his near and dear. To me, he is a living proof that there was nothing that a human being cannot achieve if one puts his heart behind it. I wish him all the best for his future endeavours in areas of adventure and human motivation. He is the man to follow….."
