Education and Academic Background
Lt. Col. DD Goel earned a post-graduate degree in Psychology from Mumbai University. He went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Personnel Management from Pune University. He also completed a B.Ed. and a Ph.D. in Psychology.
Military Career and Achievements
Before his military career, Lt. Col. DD Goel taught Psychology at SNDT University and was a Teaching Assistant at Mumbai University. His academic and military experiences gave him a strong grasp of soft skills, personality development, and human behavior.
Lt. Col. DD Goel faced many challenges as a Battle Casualty and War Wounded soldier. He has taken part in adventure sports like paragliding, bullet expeditions, marathons, long-distance swimming, and skiing, and set a record in the Limca Book for Paragliding. His dedication earned him the Chief of Army Commendation.

His Counseling and Work in Counterinsurgency in Kashmir have made a significant impact.

Lt. Col. DD Goel authored “When People Doubted My Ability to Walk, I Decided to Fly,” published by Pentagon Press. The book was launched by General Bipin Rawat in May 2019, elaborates his detailed journey. It is also available in Marathi version, “Pagum Laghtaye Girim”, and Hindi Version titled “Udaan Hauslon Ki”.
